Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, Mr. Carter was employed at Parkland Ventures, Inc., a Markel Ventures company as Vice President/Portfolio Manager. He directed 16 communities in Missouri and Texas. Previously he was President of Hercules Real Estate Services, Inc. Hercules owned and managed over 7,500 apartments, most of which were financed through the LIHTC program. Prior to working with Hercules, he served in several capacities with UDR, a national apartment REIT. As Senior Vice President, he led the fully integrated operation of 25,000 apartments in the Mid-Atlantic.
Curtis Carter has joined Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer to direct the day to day operation of the Residential Property Services Group. Mr. Carter has over 30 years of multi-family operating experience, including both public and private companies. He has successfully led multiple property repositioning, renovation and lease-up efforts. His management teams have produced outstanding operating results with a focus on achieving maximum economic occupancy and expense control.
Director of Operations
Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, Ms. Pulliam was employed at Matrix Residential, a Pollack Shores Company, as a Regional Director. She provided oversight for 11 communities in Virginia, with an emphasis on new construction lease ups and stabilized assets. Previously she held similar positions with S.L Nusbaum Realty Co. and Community Housing Partners, as well as an executive leadership role with Waverton Associates.
Renee Pulliam has joined Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer to focus on operational improvements and efficiencies within the Residential Property Services Group. Ms. Pulliam has over 20 years of multi-family operating experience, including conventional and affordable housing. She has successfully led lease up efforts of over 4000 units throughout her career. In addition, she has been instrumental in implementing strategic projects such as innovative property marketing, resident renewal programs and revenue management software. Ms. Pulliam is also approved by the Virginia Real Estate Board to provide Fair Housing certification training for licensed real estate agents and non-licensed individuals involved in property management transactions.
Residential Property Coordinator
Prior to joining Thalhimer in 2013, Myrna Johnson was a legal assistant in the immigration area for McCandlish Kaine and Holton PC, a practice formerly run by Senator Tim Kaine when he was still practicing law. After her three years with this law firm, Myrna transitioned to Wagner & Associates where she served as a Property Manager overseeing four commercial properties and six residential homes. In this role Myrna’s duties included account receivable management, budgeting, property inspections, vendor relationship management, and maintaining communications with property owners. She served in this role for 10 years until joining the Thalhimer family.
Myrna’s duties as the Residential Property Coordinator includes support for our Thalhimer Realty Partners Group, Director of Residential Property Services, Director of Operations and Portfolio Managers. She also handles auditing reports of security deposits, renewals, service work orders, delinquencies and prepaids, SODA's, holding fees and collection processing.
Since joining Thalhimer in 1979, Robin has had extensive experience in all facets of the multifamily housing industry, including lease ups, capital projects, due diligence services, employee supervision and financial reporting. Robin has prepared needs assessments for many communities over his career and overseen several capital projects. Robin served the local apartment association, CVAA, as a board member and was the association’s President in 2005. Robin received his CPM (Certified Property Manager) designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management and holds a Virginia Associate Brokers License. Before coming to the Thalhimer corporate office, Robin worked at one of the Thalhimer communities in all facets of maintenance during his college years.
In his current role as a Portfolio Manager and First Vice President, Robin is responsible for 13 properties including twelve multi-family, and one strip shopping center. He is directly responsible for all daily operations, along with fiscal operation management of these properties including budget preparation, receipts in excess of $18 million, expenditures of approximately $8 million and managing a team of 30 on-site personnel. He also coordinates tenant relations, preventive maintenance and energy management programs for his properties. In addition to these daily tasks, he coordinates and performs due diligence inspections on potential acquisitions for clients.
Since joining Thalhimer in 2005, Alex has had extensive experience in all facets of the multifamily housing industry, including lease ups, capital projects, due diligence services, employee supervision and financial reporting. Alex has overseen many capital projects, most exceeding $500,000 each. Alex is active with the local apartment association, CVAA, as well as the state association, VAMA. He has won Portfolio Manager of the Year awards in 2007 and 2011. Alex received his CAM (Certified Apartment Manager) designation from NAA. Prior to joining Thalhimer, Alex was a manager at a legal consulting firm in Richmond, VA. Alex graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
Alex is currently responsible for six multifamily properties totaling approximately 1,100 units. These investments generate over $10 million in receipts for his clients with an approximate market value in excess of $76 million. He is responsible for all daily operations along with fiscal management, such as budget preparation and maintenance, expenditures in excess of $7 million and managing a team of 26 on-site personnel. He also coordinates tenant relations, preventive maintenance and energy management programs for his properties.
Catrina is a Portfolio Manager in the Residential Property Services Division. Her portfolio consists of multi-family properties located in Richmond, VA, and Charlottesville, VA. She is responsible for the day to day operations including management of on-site personnel, resident relations, budget preparation and monitoring. Catrina’s areas of expertise include financial reporting, assisting the day to day management of site operations, and Marketing.
Catrina has served the multifamily community for 20 years. For the fifteen years prior to joining Thalhimer, Catrina was a Multisite Property Manager with Hercules Real Estate Services. Hercules owned and managed over 7,500 apartment homes in the Mid-Atlantic area, including both LIHTC and conventional assets. She was instrumental in making sure all VHDA requirements were accurately reported and maintained.
Catrina has dedicated her skills and knowledge to NRM Management, United Dominion Realty and Hercules Real Estate Services until she joined the Thalhimer team. She had achieved the “Certified Apartment Manager” and the “Housing Credited Certified Professional” designations. She has actively supported FAMA and VAMA during her career.
Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, Mrs. Melton was employed at Bonaventure Realty Group as Regional Property Manager. She managed properties in Virginia and the Carolinas and specialized in developing strategies to turn around underperforming assets and leading the repositioning teams. Prior to that, she was responsible for developing and implementing the Bonaventure training curriculum. In addition, she was instrumental in the rehabilitation and re-leasing of the 441 scattered units from the River City portfolio sale, now known as The Gallery. This was a large-scale project and involved a significant rehab budget.
Lindsey Melton has joined Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer to oversee two of TRP’s newest acquisitions, the Towers on Franklin I & II. This will be particularly challenging since remodel work will need to be completed and the property fully leased prior to fall enrollment at VCU. Lindsey and her team will have their hands full making this happen!
Melissa began her career in property management in 2008 as a Manager with Great Atlantic Management. In less than one year she went from a 104-unit property to one triple in size at 312 units where she stayed for the next 10 years. Melissa was a stable part of the property through two sales. Harbor Group owned the property from 2011 to 2014 when Thalhimer purchased it in late December 2014. By the summer of 2016 Melissa was promoted to Senior Property Manager and assisted with the purchase, smooth transition, and continued daily functions of 4 more Hampton Roads area properties. Melissa was promoted to Portfolio Manager in summer of 2018.
Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, Mrs. Rich was employed by Mid-America Apartment Communities (MAA) as a Senior Property Manager. Mrs. Rich also worked for Drucker and Falk as a Regional Property Manager in addition she served on the Legislative Board for the Richmond Apartment Management Association. Michelle also instructed classes in both Legal Concepts and Risk Management for the association.
Michelle Rich has joined Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer to direct the day to day operation of the Residential Property Management Group overseeing the North Carolina Region. Mrs. Rich has over 20 years of multi-family operating experience and has been very successfully in handling property renovations. Michelle has had positive results in her achieving maximum occupancy and expense control under her leadership.
Austin joined Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer in July 2016 where she served as the Assistant Property Manager for Courtyard Lofts, Osprey Lofts and The Altamont. In her current role as a Marketing Specialist, she is responsible for the marketing and branding functions for the Residential Property Services team to ensure property awareness, drive leasing results, and build resident loyalty.
Residential Training Coordinator
Jennifer began her career in Property Management with Gumenick Properties in Richmond, Virginia, starting off as an Assistant Manager in 1998 and was promoted to Property Manager several years later. During her tenure of over 10 years with Gumenick Properties, she was directly involved with rebuilding the Crestview area to what is now known as The Estates and The Village’s at Horsepen. In addition, she was involved with relocating over 700 residents who lived in the Suburban, Crestwood, and Yorkshire apartment communities, since Gumenick Properties had the same plans for redeveloping that area as they had for Crestview. Jennifer became a member of Thalhimer when Sundance Station was purchased by Thalhimer Realty Partners in September 2011. Jennifer had a key role with the selling and marketing of Sundance Station, which had only been owned by Harbor Group for less than two years. While at Sundance Station she handled the collection of over $3 MM in rental income and the payment of over $1 MM in operating expenses.
Jennifer’s portfolio includes four multi-family properties totaling approximately 600 units in Richmond, VA, Hopewell, VA, and Petersburg, VA. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of these properties including management of on-site personnel, budget preparation, fiscal management, tenant relations and lease up for a brand new community in Scott’s Addition. In addition, Jennifer is fully responsible for development and execution of the implementation of our new software program, MRI.
Kristen joined Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer in February 2020 as a Marketing Assistant. In her current role as Marketing Assistant, she is responsible for the digital marketing and branding functions for the Residential Property Services team to ensure property awareness, drive leasing results, and build resident loyalty.
Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, Kristen was instrumental in leading the successful lease-up of a luxury community in Richmond and worked for several years in the Charlottesville student housing market.
